session scene from the past, a group of friends messing with an occult book they shouldn’t have, the over-enthusiastic detective that really has no idea what he is investigating, the spiders – so many creepy crawlies! – there’s even the gratuitous girl in a bikini.What Hash Black does with these ubiquitous horror tropes is to spin a gruesome, yet somehow lighthearted horror story with an ending that absolutely made the story. It gets dark in places but doesn’t go into gratuitous gore – more enough to get creepy. This is one of those where you spend most of the book putting the pieces together and while it wasn’t really a shocking reveal at the end, it was really well done.There are a lot of f-bombs and n-words throughout the book; it was a bit heavy handed to the point of being distracting imo.

ve tried to play with the occult, me included and I’m glad it did not ended up like the characters in this novel. The story has a slow build up and even when it picks up it then slows down to then again quicken, leaving you wondering what the hell is going on! I did not expect the twist at all and I was baffled and couldn’t believe it. It came as a slap in the face! Well done to the author for that! I didn’t know this author and this is the first book I read from him but won’t be the last. Try this book out and see for yourself!

ot pulled into the narrative. One of the best things about ‘Signed In Blood’ is that I was completely surprised by the horrific ending.
