An ancient grimoir. An accidental curse. And an impossible race to save a soul.

Billy Cheston is a rising star in the corporate world — smart, ambitious, and on the verge of a major promotion. With a child on the way and a circle of elite friends who always seem one step ahead, Billy will do whatever it takes to secure a future his family deserves.

But during a weekend retreat, Billy’s longtime friend Kevin reveals something unexpected: a weathered spell book promising wealth, power… and a price paid in blood.

What starts as a drunken joke becomes horrifyingly real. A pact is made. A deadline is set. Three souls in three sunrises — or there will be hell to pay.

As fear fractures friendships and the Devil comes to collect, Billy must decide:
Will he let his friends fall… or face his own demons to save them all?

A chilling tale of ambition, sacrifice, and the terrifying cost of desire, Signed in Blood is perfect for fans of supernatural thrillers, occult horror, and dark fiction that doesn’t flinch.

Paranormal Horror Novel Themes in Signed in Blood

Signed in Blood is a relentless descent into darkness—a paranormal horror novel where ambition, desperation, and curiosity collide with forces far beyond human control. From its very first pages, the story establishes a brutal truth: once you invite the supernatural in… it doesn’t leave empty-handed.

The novel opens with a haunting prelude of possession, ritual, and slaughter inside a sacred space—where prayer fails, innocence is shattered, and something ancient awakens. What follows is a modern-day unraveling, where a group of friends—each battling their own personal struggles—unknowingly step into a supernatural trap disguised as opportunity.

At its core, this is a paranormal horror novel driven by forbidden rituals, demonic forces, and the cost of desire. A mysterious grimoire, blood rituals, and reckless curiosity become the gateway to something sinister. What begins as a drunken experiment spirals into a binding pact—one that cannot be undone.

The horror intensifies as the supernatural presence reveals its true nature—manipulative, patient, and merciless. Each character is forced to confront not only the entity they’ve summoned, but also their own inner demons: greed, envy, fear, and desperation. The paranormal here is not random—it is targeted, calculated, and deeply personal.

Fans of paranormal horror novels will recognize familiar elements—demonic summoning, cursed artifacts, and escalating supernatural consequences—but Signed in Blood elevates them through its emotional stakes and psychological tension. The entity is not just a monster—it is a dealmaker, a corrupter, a force that feeds on human weakness.

This is a story where:

  • A single ritual changes everything
  • Power comes at an irreversible cost
  • The supernatural doesn’t haunt—it hunts

Perfect for readers who enjoy:

  • Paranormal horror novels with demonic entities and rituals
  • Occult themes, grimoires, and forbidden knowledge
  • High-stakes horror driven by character flaws
  • Fast-paced supernatural escalation with brutal consequences

Dare to sign? Because in this story… the price is always paid in blood.

  1. I really enjoyed this book. . . Billy and Kevin had the ride of their lives but not in a good way.
I don’t want to give away any spoilers. I will just say that spiders will forever haunt me no matter what form they come in. . . and I truly appreciate the goat in the story. now that you’re curious, if you haven’t read this book yet, you need to grab a copy.

  2. 3.5 stars. This was pretty good. The pacing moved too quickly, and after the first portion of the story, we lost sight of some of the initial plot points, i.e. Eve and her pregnancy, which was a gigantic missed opportunity. She was referenced a few times throughout, but the author focused on the onslaught of witches and demons, and the nonstop chaos that befell Billy, our main character. He is just a down on his luck type, with a crummy job, unable to keep a house over his head. So he decides to attend an outing with some of her friends, and they start playing around with black magic. I mean, haven’t we all had a few drinks, taking an ancient object, and started chanting magic spells at it to see what happens? So, needless to say, all hell breaks loose, people are killed, terrible things happen, lots of action and violence, even some funny moments, and the story just gets wild. But, as I stated earlier, the author jumped through the introduction of Billy and Eve, and that should have been a huge part of the story. And that took away from the eventual impact of everything that would happen, as we didn’t get to know anyone all that well. I personally hated Kevin and his incessant use of the n-word throughout. His character must have said it a hundred times, and it was really annoying and unnecessary. I understand that he was being written a certain way and was supposed to obnoxious, but I would have preferred this aspect to be really tapered down. So anything bad that happened to him didn’t bother me in the least, for that sole reason. Overall, it was pretty good and had an equal amount of things that I disliked versus what worked for me. I would recommend new readers try out The Mirror before this, to get a better idea of this author’s style.

  4. Do not read this book just before going to bed unless you want your dreams plagued by demons, imps and spiders. Thousands of spiders!

I was totally blindsided by the twist towards the end. I did not see that coming. Still, what some people will do for a successful life………………….

  5. I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Man, I gotta say there were several parts in this book that I was actually scared. I had to stop and look around to see if it was safe to continue reading! This was my first Hash Black book and I enjoyed his style. I’ll be checking his other books for a future read.
